Videos of Indian Army’s surgical strike across the line of control (LOC) were made public today.

The strikes which took place in September 2016 destroyed Pakistan Army’s position and crossed the border and destroyed at least 4 terror launch pads some of which were em-placed with the Pakistan Army facilities. The Indian Army carried out the surgical strikes on the night of September 28-29, 2016, eleven days after militants from Pakistan attacked a military base in Jammu and Kashmir’s Uri and killed 18 soldiers.”

Images in the video captured by cameras mounted on Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) and Thermal Imaging (TI) from cameras used by the Army to monitor the operation. The video which wee released on Wednesday, has now converted into a political storm in the country with the congress accusing BJP for misusing it (video) for political gain.In a press conference, Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala accused that “while on the one hand the Modi government is seeking credit for the sacrifice and courage of the armed forces, on the other it has failed to provide direction and vision to deal with the country like Pakistan. “Let the ruling party remember that the blood and sacrifice of our brave soldiers cannot become a political gain for Modi Government and the BJP,” he told reporters, accusing that the surgical strikes of September 28 and 29, 2016 were “shamelessly politicised” by the BJP for the March 2017 uttarpradesh assembly election.

Surjewala said the “apathy” and “incapacity” of the Modi  Government, in spite of the surgical strike, it has resulted in the sacrifice of 146 soldiers, more than 1,600 ceasefire violations by Pakistan and 79 terrorist attacks post September 2016.He also charged the government of giving”step-motherly treatment” to the armed forces by not providing them with state-of-the-art equipment and

However, the ruling BJP has rejected the charge of misusing the surgical strikes for political gains.

BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy said, ”just because they (Congress) can’t produce such videos, because there’s none, we shouldn’t do it too? How’s this exploiting people’s sentiments in BJP’s favour? If you did it, why did you hide it? It’s just like the old saying ‘grapes are sour’.”Swamy’s BJP colleague and Union minister KirenRijiju too said, ”I am surprised that Congress that ruled India for more than five decades is speaking in a language which is in tune with separatists and Pakistani establishment. Congress has demanded proof of surgical strike and now when proof has started emerging, they’re saying it’s for publicity.”
